Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.

Form Meatballs
Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet.

Bake Meatballs
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through and browned.

Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.

Simmer Sauce
Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add chopped fresh basil just before serving.

Assemble the Sub
Place a few meatballs inside the baguette halves, spoon marinara sauce over the meatballs, and top with slices of provolone cheese.

Melt Cheese
If desired, place the assembled sub in a preheated oven (200°C / 400°F) for 5 minutes to melt the provolone cheese.

Cut the sub into manageable portions and serve hot.
