Pizza Dough and Toppings
Method
Preparation
- 1
Making the Dough
In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until it forms a dough.
- 2
Kneading the Dough
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 3
Preparing the Pizza
Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C). Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Place it on a pizza stone or baking sheet.
- 4
Adding the Toppings
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough. Tear the mozzarella into pieces and scatter over the sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Add fresh basil leaves on top.
- 5
Baking the Pizza
Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes before slicing.
