Calamari Ingredients
Method
Frying Directions
- 1
Prepare the Calamari
In a bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Mix well.
- 2
Coat the Calamari
Dip the sliced calamari into the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Then, dredge the calamari in the flour mixture until well-coated.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F (190°C).
- 4
Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the coated calamari to the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
- 5
Drain the Calamari
Remove the fried calamari with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil.
- 6
Serve
Serve hot with marinara sauce on the side, sprinkled with red pepper flakes and lemon wedges.
