Lasagna Noodles

Meat Sauce

Cheese Mixture

Method

Prepare the Noodles

  1. 1

    Cook the Lasagna Noodles

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Make the Meat Sauce

  1. 2

    Sauté the Aromatics

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent.

  2. 3

    Cook the Meat

Add the ground beef and Italian sausage to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula, about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 4

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Prepare the Cheese Mixture

  1. 5

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley. Mix until well combined.

Assemble the Lasagna

  1. 6

    Layer the Ingredients

In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place 3 lasagna noodles on top, then spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles. Add a layer of meat sauce, then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, finishing with meat sauce and a generous layer of mozzarella on top.

Bake the Lasagna

  1. 7

    Bake

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Cover the lasagna with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  2. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Allow the lasagna to cool for 10 minutes before garnishing with fresh basil leaves. Slice and serve warm.
