Base Ingredients

Method

Preparing the Coffee Mixture

  1. 1

    Brew the Coffee

Brew 1 cup of strong espresso or coffee and let it cool to room temperature. If using coffee liqueur, mix it into the coffee once it has cooled.

Making the Cream Mixture

  1. 2

    Prepare the Cream

In a medium bowl, whisk together the mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

  2. 3

    Whisk the Egg Yolks

In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks until they are thick and pale in color. Gently fold the egg yolks into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.

Assembling the Tiramisu

  1. 4

    Dip the Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

  2. 5

    Layer the Ingredients

In a 9x9 inch dish, layer half of the dipped ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the cream mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and top with the remaining cream mixture.

Chilling and Serving

  1. 6

    Chill the Tiramisu

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best flavor.

  2. 7

    Serve

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings, if desired.
