Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

In a mixing bowl, shape the ground beef into two equal-sized patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Vegetables

Slice the tomato and onion into rings. Wash and dry the lettuce leaves.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Cook the Patties

Heat the skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of smoked cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

  2. 5

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in the skillet until golden brown.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, layer the lettuce, followed by the cooked patty with melted smoked cheddar, crispy bacon, tomato slices, onion rings, and pickles. Add ketchup and mustard if desired.

  2. 7

    Serve

Place the top half of the bun on the assembled burger. Serve immediately with your choice of side dishes.
