Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, until frothy.

  2. 2

    Make the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let it Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 5

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) to ensure it's hot enough for a crispy crust.

  2. 6

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a pizza shape (about 12 inches in diameter).

  3. 7

    Add Toppings

Place the shaped dough on a pizza stone or baking sheet. Layer the sliced tomatoes evenly over the dough, followed by slices of fresh mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

  4. 8

    Bake the Pizza

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  5. 9

Finish with Basil and Olive Oil

Remove the pizza from the oven and sprinkle fresh basil leaves on top. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese.

  6. 10

    Slice and Serve

Allow the pizza to cool for a few minutes, then slice into wedges and serve hot.
