Pasta Preparation

Cook the Pasta
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the gemelli pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Add Milk
Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring no lumps remain. Continue to cook, whisking frequently, until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

Add Cheeses
Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese and Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and black pepper.
Combine Pasta and Sauce

Mix Together
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked gemelli pasta with the cheese sauce. Stir until the pasta is well coated.
Topping Preparation

Prepare the Bread Crumb Topping
In a small bowl, mix the bread crumbs with melted butter until evenly coated.
Baking

Assemble and Bake
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the mac 'n cheese to a baking dish and sprinkle the buttered bread crumbs evenly on top. Bake for 20 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Make Garlic Toast
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with minced garlic. Slice the French bread in half lengthwise and spread the garlic butter on each half. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden.
