Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with cocoa powder or flour to prevent sticking.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a medium microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsweetened chocolate and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until fully melted and smooth.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and egg yolks until the mixture is thick and pale in color.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and stir until well combined. Add vanilla extract, flour, and a pinch of salt, mixing until just combined.

  5. 5

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.

  6. 6

    Bake

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, until the edges are firm but the center is soft.

  7. 7

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let the cakes cool for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate and gently lift off. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
