Cheese Curds
Ranch Dipping Sauce
Oil for Frying
Method
Prepare the Tempura Batter
- 1
Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, and baking powder. Whisk together until well blended.
- 2
Add Cold Water
Gradually add cold water to the dry ingredients while whisking continuously until the batter is smooth. Make sure there are no lumps.
- 3
Add Ice Cubes
Add ice cubes to the batter to keep it cold, which helps achieve a crispy texture when frying.
Prepare the Cheese Curds
- 4
Coat the Cheese Curds
Take the white cheddar cheese curds and dip them into the tempura batter, ensuring they are fully coated.
Fry the Cheese Curds
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Fry the Curds
Carefully drop the battered cheese curds into the hot oil in small batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 7
Drain Excess Oil
Remove the fried cheese curds from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Prepare the Ranch Dipping Sauce
- 8
Serve with Ranch
Serve the crispy tempura cheese curds hot, alongside a cup of ranch dressing for dipping.
