Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it reaches the right temperature for baking.

Prepare Baking Pan
Grease an 8x8 inch baking pan with butter or line it with parchment paper for easy removal of the brownies later.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, and baking powder until well combined.

In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter until fully liquid. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

If desired, fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts into the brownie batter.
