Prepare the Apples
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples with granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss until the apples are evenly coated. Transfer the apple mixture to a greased baking dish.

In a separate bowl, combine rolled oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, and salt. Melt the unsalted butter and pour it over the dry ingredients. Mix until crumbly. Sprinkle the topping mixture evenly over the apples in the baking dish.

Bake the Apple Crisp
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 40-45 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.

Prepare the Caramel Sauce
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the granulated sugar and cook until it melts and turns a golden brown color. Carefully add the unsalted butter and stir until melted. Gradually whisk in the heavy cream and vanilla extract. Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes until smooth. Remove from heat.
