Preparation
Make the Dough
In a large bowl, warm the milk until lukewarm and dissolve the yeast and sugar in it. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Add melted butter, egg, salt, and flour. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Prepare the Filling
In a bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle, spread softened butter over it, and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
Form the Rolls
Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into 12 equal pieces. Place in a greased baking dish and cover with a towel. Let rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake the Rolls
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Make the Icing
In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle over the warm cinnamon rolls.
