Meatballs and Sauce

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Make the Meatballs

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place on a baking sheet.

  3. 3

    Cook the Meatballs

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove meatballs from skillet and set aside.

  4. 4

    Make the Sauce

In the same skillet, add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, and sugar. Bring to a simmer.

  5. 5

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Return meatballs to the skillet, cover, and let simmer in the sauce for 15-20 minutes, until cooked through.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve meatballs with sauce over spaghetti or on their own, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
