Method
Pancake Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Potatoes
Peel and grate the potatoes using a box grater or food processor. Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out as much excess moisture as possible.
- 2
Combine Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the grated potatoes, finely chopped onion, flour, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. You want enough oil to cover the bottom of the skillet.
- 4
Cook the Pancakes
Drop spoonfuls of the potato mixture into the hot oil, pressing them down gently to flatten. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side. Repeat until all the mixture is used, adding more oil as necessary.
Applesauce Preparation
- 5
Prepare the Apples
Peel, core, and chop the apples into small chunks.
- 6
- 7
Mash the Apples
Once cooked, use a fork or potato masher to mash the apples to your desired consistency, whether smooth or chunky.
