Method
Preparation Steps
- 1
Cook the Meat Sauce
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and Italian sausage. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until the onion is translucent.
- 2
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Reduce heat, cover, and let simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 3
Prepare Cheese Mixture
In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, a pinch of salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth.
- 4
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 5
Layer the Lasagna
Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, one-third of the mozzarella, and a layer of meat sauce. Repeat the layers, finishing with noodles, meat sauce, and remaining mozzarella and parmesan cheese on top.
- 6
Bake
Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- 7
Serve
Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
