Method

Burger Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined. Do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help it cook evenly.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Heat the Grill or Pan

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Once hot, add the patties to the grill or skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until they reach your desired doneness. If using cheese, add a slice on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking.

Burger Assembly

  1. 5

    Prepare the Vegetables

Wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Slice the tomato and onion into thin rounds.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Burger

Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each burger bun. Add a cooked beef patty on top, followed by tomato slices, onion slices, ketchup, and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
