Method

Fries

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fries

Preheat your oven according to the package instructions for the frozen French fries. Spread the fries in a single layer on a baking sheet and drizzle with vegetable oil and sprinkle with salt.

  2. 2

    Bake the Fries

Bake the fries in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through the cooking time.

Chili

  1. 3

    Cook the Beef

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain any excess fat.

  2. 4

    Add Vegetables

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

  3. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Stir in the canned diced tomatoes, drained kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, and water. Mix well to combine all ingredients.

  4. 6

    Simmer the Chili

Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens.

Assemble

  1. 7

    Combine Fries and Chili

Once the fries are crispy and the chili has thickened, remove both from heat. Place a generous serving of fries on a plate.

  2. 8

    Top with Chili

Spoon the chili over the fries, ensuring they are well covered.

  3. 9

    Add Cheese and Garnish

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese generously over the chili. If desired, add a dollop of sour cream and sprinkle chopped green onions on top.
