Method
Fried Chicken Directions
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine chicken pieces and buttermilk. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In a separate bowl, mix flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- 3
Coat the Chicken
Remove chicken from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating. Shake off excess flour.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully add coated chicken pieces to the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 12-15 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
- 6
Drain and Serve
Once cooked, remove chicken from oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with salad, fries, and garlic bread.
