Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Peppers

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Roast the poblano peppers on a baking sheet for about 20 minutes, turning occasionally, until the skin is blistered and charred. Remove from the oven and let them cool. Once cooled, peel off the skin and make a small slit on one side of each pepper to remove the seeds.

  2. 2

    Stuff the Peppers

In a mixing bowl, combine the cheese, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Stuff each roasted poblano pepper with the cheese mixture.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Batter

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, eggs, milk, and a pinch of salt until smooth.

  4. 4

    Fry the Peppers

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Dip each stuffed pepper into the batter and carefully place them in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the chile rellenos hot, topped with warm tomato sauce.
