Pie Filling and Toppings
Method
Preparation and Assembly
- 1
Prepare the Pie Crust
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9-inch pie crust and place it in a pie dish.
- 2
Make the Filling
In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, corn syrup, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined. Stir in the chopped pecans and dark chocolate chips.
- 3
Bake the Pie
Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the filling is set but slightly jiggly in the center. Let it cool completely.
- 4
Prepare the Whiskey Caramel Sauce
In a saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and a splash of water over medium heat. Cook until the sugar dissolves and turns a golden brown. Remove from heat and carefully stir in whiskey and butter until smooth.
- 5
Make Whipped Cream
In a medium bowl, beat the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- 6
Serve
Slice the cooled pie, drizzle with whiskey caramel sauce, and top with whipped cream before serving.
