Instructions
- 1
Rinse the Rice
Place the jasmine rice in a fine mesh strainer and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and helps to prevent the rice from becoming gummy.
- 2
Combine Ingredients
In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed jasmine rice, water, salt, and butter or oil (if using).
- 3
Bring to Boil
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
- 4
Simmer
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a lid, and let it simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the water is absorbed.
- 5
Let it Rest
Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 10 minutes to allow the rice to steam.
- 6
Fluff and Serve
After resting, fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot as a side dish or base for your favorite entrees.
