Flan Ingredients
Method
Flan Directions
- 1
Prepare the Caramel
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar and water. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves. Allow the mixture to boil without stirring until it turns a golden brown color. Quickly pour the caramel into a 10' round cake pan, tilting to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool and harden.
- 2
Make the Custard
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- 3
Combine and Bake
Pour the custard mixture over the hardened caramel in the cake pan. Place the cake pan in a larger baking dish and fill the baking dish with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the cake pan. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 50-60 minutes, or until the flan is set.
- 4
Cool and Serve
Remove the flan from the water bath and let it cool to room temperature. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan, invert onto a serving plate, and enjoy!
