Biscuits and Toppings

Method

Preparation and Assembly

  1. 1

    Make the Biscuits

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the milk until just combined. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently. Roll out to about 1 inch thick and cut into rounds. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Toppings

While the biscuits are baking, cook the eggs in your preferred style (fried, scrambled, etc.). In a separate pan, warm the diced potatoes and green onions together until heated through. Prepare the sausage gravy according to package instructions or your homemade recipe.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Garbage Plate

To assemble, place a biscuit on a plate. Top with cooked potatoes and green onions, then add the cooked eggs. Sprinkle crumbled bacon and diced tomato on top, followed by shredded cheddar cheese. Finally, pour the warm sausage gravy over the entire plate.
