Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Butternut Squash
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Peel and dice the butternut squash into small cubes. Toss the cubes with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread them on a baking sheet and roast for about 25-30 minutes or until tender and slightly caramelized.
- 2
Make the Bacon-Onion Jam
While the squash is roasting, cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon and drain on paper towels. In the same skillet, add the diced onion and cook until translucent. Add the brown sugar and crumble the cooked bacon back into the skillet. Stir and cook for another 5 minutes until caramelized. Remove from heat.
- 3
Assemble the Flatbread
Once the squash is roasted, lower the oven temperature to 375°F (190°C). On each piece of flatbread, spread a layer of roasted butternut squash, followed by crumbled goat cheese and the bacon-onion jam.
- 4
Bake the Flatbread
Place the assembled flatbreads on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the edges of the flatbread are crispy.
- 5
Finish and Serve
Remove the flatbreads from the oven. Drizzle with balsamic vinegar and sprinkle fresh basil on top. Slice and serve warm.
