Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatball Mixture

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a plate or baking sheet.

  3. 3

    Cook the Meatballs

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a little oil. Once hot, add the meatballs and cook for about 10 minutes, turning occasionally until browned on all sides and cooked through.

Spaghetti

  1. 4

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 4 liters of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water.

  2. 5

    Cook Spaghetti

Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually around 8-10 minutes, until al dente. Stir occasionally.

  3. 6

    Drain Spaghetti

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.

Tomato Sauce

  1. 7

    Sauté Aromatics

In the same skillet used for the meatballs, add olive oil and heat over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.

  2. 8

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed canned tomatoes, oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 9

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Add the cooked meatballs to the tomato sauce and let them simmer together for an additional 5 minutes.

Assembly

  1. 10

    Serve the Dish

In a serving bowl, place a serving of spaghetti and top with meatballs and tomato sauce. Garnish with extra Parmesan cheese and parsley if desired.
