Cooking the Pasta
Boil the Pasta
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 10-12 minutes.
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.
Making the Alfredo Sauce
Melt the Butter
In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.
Stir in the Cream
Slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring continuously. Let the mixture come to a simmer.
Add Cheese and Seasonings
Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Combining Everything
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained penne pasta to the Alfredo sauce, tossing to ensure all the pasta is coated evenly.
Serve
Plate the Penne Alfredo, garnishing with chopped parsley and extra Parmesan cheese as desired.
