Method

Cooking the Pasta

1

Boil the Water

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil.

2

Cook the Penne

Add the penne pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually about 10-12 minutes, until al dente. Stir occasionally.

3

Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the rest. Set the pasta aside.

Making the Sauce

4

Sauté the Garlic

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic cloves and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn them.

5

Add Cherry Tomatoes

Add the halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes start to soften and release their juices.

6

Season the Sauce

Season the sauce with salt and black pepper. Stir to combine, allowing the flavors to meld for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Combining and Serving

7

Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained penne pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss well to coat the pasta. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.

8

Add Fresh Basil

Tear the fresh basil leaves and sprinkle them over the pasta. Toss again to combine.

9

Serve

Transfer the Penne Pomodoro to serving plates and garnish with additional fresh basil if desired. Serve immediately.
