Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Make Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until it forms a dough.
- 3
Knead Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Rise Dough
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Assembling the Pizza
- 5
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.
- 6
Shape Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it onto a floured surface. Roll it out into a 12-inch circle, then transfer it to a piece of parchment paper.
- 7
Add Sauce
Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- 8
Add Toppings
Tear the fresh mozzarella cheese into chunks and distribute evenly over the sauce. Add the black olives, artichoke hearts, and prosciutto slices on top.
- 9
Bake Pizza
Carefully transfer the pizza (with the parchment paper) onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crispy.
- 10
Finish and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, drizzle with olive oil, and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
