Pasta

Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the desired type of pasta (Angel hair, Bucatini, or any of the others listed).

  2. 2

    Cook the Pasta

Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente, usually around 8-12 minutes depending on the type. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  3. 3

    Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside. Reserve some pasta water for later use if needed.

Making the Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté Garlic

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  2. 5

    Add Crushed Tomatoes

Stir in the crushed tomatoes and bring the mixture to a simmer. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

  3. 6

    For Alfredo Sauce

If making Alfredo, reduce the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.

  4. 7

    For Vodka Sauce

If making Vodka sauce, stir in the vodka and let it cook for about 5 minutes to reduce slightly.

  5. 8

    For Arrabbiata Sauce

For Arrabbiata, add red pepper flakes to the sauce and adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper.

  6. 9

    Finishing Touches

Add the chopped fresh basil and grated Parmesan cheese to the sauce. Stir to combine and remove from heat.

Combining Pasta and Sauce

  1. 10

    Combine

Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to loosen it.

  2. 11

    Serve

Serve the pasta hot, garnished with additional basil and Parmesan cheese if desired.
