Onion Rings

Method

Onion Rings

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika. In another bowl, whisk together the milk and egg. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Coat the Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated. Allow excess batter to drip off before frying.

  5. 5

    Fry the Onion Rings

Carefully place the battered onion rings in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Creole Remoulade

  1. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, mix together mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, hot sauce, lemon juice, garlic powder, paprika, chopped green onions, chopped parsley, and salt until well blended.

  2. 7

    Chill the Sauce

Cover the remoulade and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
