Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring water to a rolling boil. Add 1 teaspoon of salt for flavor.

  2. 2

    Cook Pasta

Add 2 cups of pasta to boiling water. Cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.

Making the Alfredo Sauce

  1. 4

    Melt Butter

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter.

  2. 5

    Add Cream and Seasonings

Pour in 1 cup of heavy cream, followed by 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 0.5 teaspoon of salt, and black pepper to taste. Stir until smooth and combined.

  3. 6

    Combine with Pasta

Add the drained pasta to the sauce, tossing to coat evenly. Serve immediately.

Making the Marinara Sauce

  1. 7

    Sauté Garlic

In a medium saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 2 minced garlic cloves and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  2. 8

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in 1 can of crushed tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 0.5 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 9

    Combine with Pasta

Add the drained pasta to the marinara sauce, tossing to coat evenly. Serve immediately.

Buttered Pasta

  1. 10

    Melt Butter

In a small saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter over low heat.

  2. 11

    Combine with Pasta

Add the drained pasta to the melted butter, tossing to coat. Season with salt to taste and serve immediately.

Plain Pasta

  1. 12

    Serve Plain

For plain pasta, simply serve the drained pasta as is without any sauce. You can add a sprinkle of salt if desired.
