For the Panino

Method

To Make the Mixed Berry Marmalade

  1. 1

    Prepare the Berries

Wash the mixed berries thoroughly under cold water. Remove any stems or leaves and chop larger strawberries into smaller pieces.

  2. 2

    Cook the Marmalade

In a medium saucepan, combine the mixed berries, sugar, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the mixture comes to a gentle boil.

  3. 3

    Simmer

Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring frequently, until it thickens to your desired consistency.

  4. 4

    Cool and Store

Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the marmalade to cool. Once cooled, transfer it to a clean jar and refrigerate until ready to use.

To Make the Panino

  1. 5

    Prepare the Bread

Take two slices of sourdough bread and spread 2 tablespoons of Nutella on one slice and 2 tablespoons of mixed berry marmalade on the other slice.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Panino

Press the two slices together with the Nutella and marmalade facing each other to create a sandwich.

  3. 7

    Butter the Bread

Spread butter on the outside of both slices of the sandwich.

  4. 8

    Grill the Panino

Heat a skillet or pan over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy.

  5. 9

    Serve

Once the panino is cooked, remove it from the skillet, cut it in half, and serve warm. Enjoy with any leftover mixed berry marmalade on the side.
