Method
Preparing the Figs
- 1
Prepare the Port Glaze
In a small saucepan, combine the port wine and honey over medium heat. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 10-15 minutes until it thickens slightly and reduces to about half the volume. Set aside to cool.
- 2
Glaze the Figs
Slice the mission figs in half lengthwise. Place them in a baking dish and drizzle the cooled port glaze over the figs, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Assembling the Dish
- 3
Prepare the Cheese
While the figs are marinating, slice the Pecorino-Romano, Italian fontina, and Gorgonzola cheeses into thin pieces or small wedges.
- 4
Arrange the Plate
On a serving platter, arrange the marinated figs, and scatter the cheese pieces around them. Ensure that the colors and textures are appealing.
- 5
Add Prosciutto
Tear the Prosciutto di Parma into strips and arrange them elegantly over the figs and cheese.
- 6
Finish with Truffle Oil
Drizzle the white truffle oil generously over the entire platter, adding a luxurious finish.
