Prepare the Meatball Mixture
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Shape the Meatballs
Form the mixture into meatballs about 2.5 cm in diameter and place them on a baking sheet.

Prepare the Sauce
Add the crushed canned tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the skillet. Stir to combine.

Simmer the Sauce
Bring the sauce to a simmer, then return the meatballs to the skillet. Cover and let simmer for about 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Finish the Sauce
Stir in the chopped fresh basil just before serving.

Cook the Spaghetti
In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add salt and then the spaghetti. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

Drain the Spaghetti
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.

Serve the Dish
Place a serving of spaghetti on a plate, top with meatballs, and generously spoon marinara sauce over the top. Garnish with additional parsley or Parmesan cheese, if desired.
