Marinara Sauce Ingredients

Method

Meatball Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Meatball Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, minced garlic, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix until everything is well incorporated.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Chill the Meatballs

Refrigerate the meatballs for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape while cooking.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Sauté the Onions and Garlic

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Then add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.

  2. 5

    Add the Tomatoes and Spices

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and sugar. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Simmer the Sauce

Let the sauce simmer on low heat for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cooking the Meatballs

  1. 7

    Cook the Meatballs

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Transfer the chilled meatballs onto a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and browned.

  2. 8

    Combine Meatballs with Sauce

Once the meatballs are done, add them to the marinara sauce and let them simmer together for an additional 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
