Preparation of Balsamic Reduction

Make Balsamic Reduction
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of balsamic vinegar and 1 tablespoon of honey. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.

Reduce Until Thick
Lower the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it has thickened and reduced to a syrupy consistency. Remove from heat and let cool.
Assembling the Caprese

Slice the Mozzarella and Tomatoes
While the balsamic reduction is cooling, slice the fresh mozzarella and tomatoes into even slices, about 1/4 inch thick.

Layer Ingredients
On a serving platter, alternate layers of sliced mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, and fresh basil leaves.

Season the Salad
Sprinkle salt and black pepper evenly over the assembled layers to taste.

Drizzle with Balsamic Reduction
Finally, drizzle the cooled balsamic reduction over the top of the Caprese salad.

Serve immediately as a fresh appetizer or side dish.
