Method
Preparation Instructions
Prepare the Coffee Mixture
In a shallow dish, combine the brewed espresso and coffee liqueur (if using). Set aside to cool completely.
Make the Mascarpone Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and well incorporated.
Whip the Heavy Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.
Assemble the Tiramisu
Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture briefly, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a large baking dish.
Layer the Mixture
Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of ladyfingers. Repeat the process with another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.
Chill and Serve
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and garnish with dark chocolate shavings.
