Pasta and Sauce

Method

Cooking Instructions

1

Cook the Pasta

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the mostaccioli pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2

Prepare the Sauce

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until the onion is translucent.

3

Brown the Meat

Add the ground beef or sausage to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.

4

Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes.

5

Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the cooked mostaccioli to the skillet and mix well until the pasta is evenly coated with the sauce.

6

Layer in Baking Dish

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer half of the pasta-sauce mixture to a large baking dish. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese on top. Add the remaining pasta and top with the rest of the mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.

7

Bake

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

8

Serve

Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your large pan baked mostaccioli!
