Fried Pickles

Method

Fried Pickles

  1. 1

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper until well combined.

  2. 2

In another bowl, beat the egg and mix it with the buttermilk until smooth.

  3. 3

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer over medium-high heat.

  4. 4

Dip each pickle slice into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, and then coat it with the flour mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.

  5. 5

Once the oil is hot (about 350°F or 180°C), carefully add the coated pickles in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.

  6. 6

Fry the pickles for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.

  7. 7

Remove the fried pickles from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  8. 8

Continue frying the remaining pickles until all are cooked.

Ranch Dressing

  1. 9

In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 10

Whisk the ingredients together until smooth and well blended.

  3. 11

Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
