Filet Mignon and Accompaniments

Method

Preparation and Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and chop the Yukon Gold potatoes into uniform pieces. Boil in salted water until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 2

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add wasabi powder, butter, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook the Filet Mignon

Season the filet mignon steaks with salt and black pepper. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the steaks for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Adjust cooking time for desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Veggie Medley

In the same skillet, add the vegetable medley and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until tender. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  5. 5

    Make the Soy Reduction Glaze

In a small saucepan, heat soy sauce over medium heat. Mix cornstarch with water and add to the saucepan, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes.

  6. 6

    Crispy Shallots

Thinly slice shallots and fry in oil until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

  7. 7

    Serve

Plate the wasabi smashed potatoes, top with filet mignon, add sautéed veggie medley, drizzle with soy reduction glaze, and garnish with crispy shallots.
