Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Shrimp
In a mixing bowl, combine the tempura batter mix with ice cold water until smooth. The batter should be thick enough to coat the shrimp.
- 2
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Ensure there is enough oil for deep frying.
- 3
Batter and Fry the Shrimp
Dip each shrimp into the tempura batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered shrimp into the hot oil, frying in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 4
Prepare the Sauce
In a small bowl, mix together your favorite spicy sauce (like sriracha or chili garlic sauce) with a bit of honey or sugar to balance the heat. Adjust to taste.
- 5
Assemble the Dish
On a serving plate, create a bed of shredded napa cabbage. Arrange the crispy shrimp on top, drizzle with the spicy sauce, and garnish with chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
