Preparation
Make the Ice Cream Base
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until the sugar is fully dissolved.
Add Flavoring
If making chocolate ice cream, whisk in the cocoa powder until smooth. For seasonal flavors, add desired flavoring to taste and mix well.
Chill the Mixture
Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours or until thoroughly chilled.
Churn the Ice Cream
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
Freeze
Transfer the churned ice cream into an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
Serve
Scoop the ice cream into bowls or cones and enjoy your local cloverleaf ice cream!
