Method
Chicken Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
Rinse the chicken breasts under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
- 2
Make the Spicy Flour Dredge
In a shallow dish, combine the all-purpose flour, cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 3
Prepare the Buttermilk Mixture
In another bowl, whisk together the pickle juice and buttermilk.
- 4
Dredge the Chicken
Coat each chicken breast in the flour mixture, then dip them into the buttermilk mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Return to the flour mixture and coat again.
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Heat the vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the chicken breasts and fry for 8-10 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.
Zesty Sweet-with-Heat Sauce
- 6
Combine Sauce Ingredients
In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, hot sauce, honey, and cayenne pepper until smooth. Set aside.
Cole Slaw
- 7
Prepare the Cole Slaw
In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage and carrots. In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, and salt. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss to combine.
Sandwich Assembly
- 8
Assemble the Sandwich
Spread a generous amount of the sweet-with-heat sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Place a fried chicken breast on each bun, top with cole slaw and pickles, then cover with the top half of the bun.
