Bread Pudding

Kentucky Bourbon Sauce

Method

Bread Pudding

1

Prepare the Bread

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Tear the day-old bread into bite-sized pieces and place in a large mixing bowl.

2

Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, eggs, granulated sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.

3

Combine Ingredients

Pour the wet mixture over the torn bread pieces. Add the chopped walnuts, raisins, diced apples, and diced pears. Gently fold everything together until the bread is fully coated and the fruits and nuts are evenly distributed.

4

Bake the Pudding

Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the pudding is set in the middle.

Kentucky Bourbon Sauce

5

Prepare the Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Once melted, add the brown sugar and stir until dissolved.

6

Add Bourbon and Cream

Carefully add the Kentucky bourbon to the saucepan and bring to a simmer. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes to allow the alcohol to cook off. Then, stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract, continuing to cook until the sauce thickens slightly.

7

Serve

Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before serving over warm bread pudding.
