Method

Brownie Base

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the dark chocolate and unsalted butter together, stirring frequently until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugars and Eggs

In a large bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and eggs. Whisk together until well blended, then stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the sugar and egg mixture. Stir until fully combined.

  5. 5

    Add Dry Ingredients

Sift in the all-purpose flour and salt. Gently fold the mixture until no flour pockets remain, then fold in the chopped walnuts.

  6. 6

    Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  7. 7

    Cool Brownies

Let the brownies cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Toppings

  1. 8

    Serve

Once the brownies are completely cool, cut them into squares. Place a brownie square on a plate, top with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream, and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
