Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Shrimp

In a large bowl, combine the jumbo shrimp, garlic powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and olive oil. Toss until the shrimp are evenly coated in the seasoning mix.

  2. 2

    Cook the Shrimp

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are pink and opaque. Remove from heat and serve with lemon wedges.

Fries Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the potatoes (if desired) and cut them into fry shapes. Rinse the fries in cold water to remove excess starch and pat them dry with a paper towel.

  2. 4

    Fry the Potatoes

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the fries in batches and fry for about 5-7 minutes until they are golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt.

Hushpuppies Preparation

  1. 5

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine cornmeal, all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Add the finely chopped onion, milk, and egg. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.

  2. 6

    Fry the Hushpuppies

In a separate pot, heat vegetable oil to 365°F (185°C). Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
