Method

For the Hamburger

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip them and place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the meat is cooked to your desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the hamburger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or skillet until golden brown.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Burgers

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, and onion rings. Drizzle with ketchup and mustard, then top with the other half of the bun.

For the Fries

  1. 5

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the potatoes, then cut them into thin strips (about 1/4 inch thick) to create fries.

  2. 6

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 7

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the potato strips to the hot oil in batches, frying them for about 5-7 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.

  4. 8

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt to taste.
