Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Green Beans
Wash the green beans under cold water. Trim the ends and cut them into desired lengths (about 2 inches).
- 2
Prepare the Shallots
Peel the shallots and finely chop them.
- 3
Prepare the Bacon
Cut the bacon slices into small pieces.
Cooking
- 4
Cook the Bacon
In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. This should take about 5-7 minutes. Remove the bacon from the skillet and set aside, leaving the bacon drippings in the skillet.
- 5
Sauté the Shallots
In the same skillet with the bacon drippings, add the chopped shallots. Sauté them over medium heat until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- 6
Add the Green Beans
Add the prepared green beans to the skillet with the sautéed shallots. Stir well to combine.
- 7
Pour in the Chicken Broth
Pour the chicken broth over the green beans and shallots. Bring to a boil.
- 8
Simmer the Mixture
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the green beans are tender but still crisp.
- 9
Season the Dish
Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Stir to combine and adjust seasoning to taste.
- 10
Finish with Bacon
Add the crispy bacon back into the skillet and stir to combine. Cook for another 2 minutes to heat through.

Serve the Dish
Transfer the green beans to a serving dish and serve hot. Enjoy your flavorful green beans cooked in chicken broth!
