Method
Fried Pickles
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the pickle slices thoroughly and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 2
Make the Dredging Mixture
In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 3
Dunk in Buttermilk
Pour the buttermilk into a separate bowl. Dip each pickle slice into the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off.
- 4
Dredge the Pickles
Coat each buttermilk-dipped pickle slice in the dredging mixture, pressing gently to ensure an even coating.
- 5
- 6
Fry the Pickles
Carefully add the coated pickle slices to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- 7
Drain the Pickles
Remove the fried pickles with a slotted spoon and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Papau's Sauce
- 8
Mix the Sauce Ingredients
In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, hot sauce, and garlic powder. Stir until smooth and well combined.
Ranch Dressing
- 9
Prepare the Ranch Dressing
In a bowl, mix together the buttermilk, mayonnaise, dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined. Adjust seasoning to taste.
